In 2023, the USDA reclassified the St. Louis area into a warmer gardening zone. This is no surprise to folks growing things in our region. While we were solidly in Zone 6b for years, the new 7a hardiness zone reflects the changes to macro trends in our climate over the past several decades.

NPR published a really detailed interactive map that shows what has changed in our hardiness zones and WHY it matters for growers.

Input your ZIP code into the interactive feature and discover why changes in our climate affect what we can and cannot plant successfully.

Dream big with us - schedule a walk and talk with our lead designer Bethany Keller to learn what you CAN grow in your region.

Happy growing!
